![]() Clay and Daniel’s story has as much pain as it has hope and love. Seriously, I was brought to tears many times while reading this. The Trigger Warning: This book contains mentions of PTSD, addiction, homophobia, and biphobia. Despite a lifetime of disappointing holidays, Clay hopes that this soldier is finally coming home for Christmas. The weight of past wounds and the scars of war might make their reunion awkward, but Clay is willing to take the risk to win back his lost love. All hope of seeing Daniel is lost-until a mysterious old man named Nick offers Clay a ride. But a blizzard strikes and Clay wrecks his car. Impulsively, he sets out for Daniel’s hometown of Gilead, Ohio-where Daniel is now the mayor-to surprise him with a visit. Twenty-five years later, they’ve reconnected on Facebook, and Clay finds out Daniel will be alone on Christmas Eve. After Clay’s convoy was ambushed, PTSD changed him, and their relationship ended in a horrible fight on Christmas Eve. ![]() The Summary: (from Goodreads) Clay and Daniel fell in love as enlisted men during Desert Shield, but Don’t Ask Don’t Tell meant they had to keep it secret. ![]() “Like they were connecting on more than a mere carnal level. ![]()

"Hate looks like everybody else until it smiles. Shatter Me's numerous metaphors, similes, and endless descriptions just didn't make sense. ![]() I have a high tolerance level for flowery writing. For example, some reviewers thought that Lips Touch: Three Times was just a mess of bloated purple prose, whereas I thought it was one of the most beautiful books I read last year. I think there's a fine line in writing between the pretty and the purplish and different readers will define it in their own way. However, I was also prepared to allow myself to be surprised a lot of my friends loved this and one of the biggest criticisms didn't actually bother me - purple prose. Any so-called "dystopia" with a runway model on the front cover leaves me feeling sceptical. You're probably assuming - correctly - that I went into this book with low expectations. I originally gave Shatter Me two stars because that's my sort of kneejerk reaction to books I don't like, but after thinking it over for a while, I can't recall anything positive about it that would justify a rating of more than one star. This is not a novel, it is a collection of similes and metaphors, most of which do not make sense. ![]() 6/28/2023 0 Comments Michael a stackpole star wars![]() Corran Horn has distinguished himself as one of the best and brightest of Rogue Squadron's elite fighting force. Stackpole presents a stirring new tale set in the Star Wars universe: the dramatic story of a heroic X-wing pilot on the razor's edge between the Force-and the dark side. After 4,000 years of dormance, why come back now? Why not during the emperor's reign, especially if you claim to be so much more vastly powerful than him? I dunno, left something to be desired. Wedge's Gamble: Star Wars Legends (Rogue Squadron) by Michael A. And how about those pronunciations? Maybe I am just used to Marc Thompon (Whom I really enjoyed in the Thrawn Trilogy), but pronouncing the middle C in "Coruscant" and "Exar Kun" as Exar Kyioon. His personas were narrow and unconvincing and his narration was generally uninspiring. In the Star Wars EU I don't think I will listen to any more if his performances, at least not until I have exhausted all other means.
